Legacy of India Blackwood on Urbanspoon

Too exhausted from the weekend to cook and seeing a review highlighting that Legacy of India takes 25% off from the Entertainment Booklet we decided it was a good choice for the wallet and the belly.

Residing next to Barnacle Bills and one shop away from Hungry Jacks on first appearances there are no expectations.

On arrival we were greeted by the manager and swiftly handed papadums which tasted like they had come from a packet, quite heavy and a little oily.

The drinks list was small, not somewhere to go if you are a big one to pair your wine with the meal.
There was the Indian Kingfisha beer which is nice for the beer to meal matchers!  I ordered the Woodstock wine but as they pour all your drinks behind the counter I am sure that either the bottle had been left to sit out  for too long or I was given the box wine which seemed to be a large part of the wine list.

A ritual of ours with Indian is to have one of each chicken, meat, vegetable. We ordered Butter Chicken, Bombay beef Masala  and the Palak Paneer with cheese and garlic Nann, rice enough for two, raita and decided to skip the entrées.

The food was surprisingly not heavy.  The Bombay beef was different, as it had large chunks of vegetables in it which is not something I have seen in an Indian restaurant before! I thought it was great but there are some that may not prefer this.  I believe that Legacy is catering to a butter chicken crowd as that was the only thing that the two tables next to us had ordered and a lot of the food was very simple.

As I was tired and very hungry I was happy to chow down on what was, very basic, simple Indian food. Although the staff were keen and friendly, the wine went predominantly untouched as it was off or casked.  For the price you pay I would say go somewhere else in Blackwoods.  After doing some research on-line another Indian restaurant; for $15.00 at Legacy of India in Blackwood there are other Indian Restaurants closer to the city that are doing a cheaper dish.
